Due to a change in schedule at the lawyer’s office, the closing on our house was actually yesterday afternoon!  We are so thankful that God saw fit to allow us to move the house so quickly!  We’re also very thankful that the people who bought the house seem to be the type who will be [...]

A little sad

Let me start by saying I am extremely excited about the work God has called us to do. That said, there are definitely some sad elements as well. Saying good-bye to family and friends, leaving a church family that we love, selling our house, etc. This week, in preparation for closing on [...]

Bronchitis

After listening to his pitiful cough and shallow breathing for a while, we decided to take Elijah to the doctor.  As it turns out, he has bronchitis and is receiving nebulizer breathing treatments every four hours.  Jenny will carry him back to the doctor on Thursday.  On a good note, God has graciously answered our [...]

And Peru too

As you probably already know, Jenny and I are scheduled to go to orientation in May and June and then leave for Costa Rica for a year of language school.  After language school, we were scheduled to go on to Santa Cruz to begin our ministry in Bolivia.  We learned last Wednesday that after language [...]

Check out this article

While I still hope to blog some of my own personal thoughts about last week and especially the appointment service, Baptist Press has done an article on the the service and some of the missionaries who were appointed alongside us.  You can read it here.  Our picture is in the slideshow.

My Church Family

I DEFINITELY was surprised today!  While Jen and I were in Memphis, our Church must have been working overtime to pull off one of the biggest surprises I’ve ever experienced.

It’s Official!

Last night we were privileged to be a part of an AMAZING service!  49 missionaries were appointed in a service that was both challenging and inspirational.  Frank Page, president of the SBC, was there and gave a charge to the churches represented.  Jerry Rankin, president of the IMB, was there and spoke both of the [...]

Checking In

Our meeting with the medical department ended a few minutes early, and thanks to Wi-fi, I was able to jump online for a few minutes and post before we head to lunch.
We have one more meeting today and then we have a bit of time before we load the buses at 5:15 to head to [...]

Appointment Service Tomorrow

All is continuing to go well here in Memphis.  Some additional family and friends are arriving tonight for tomorrow night’s service.  We are so pumped about what God is doing both in our lives and in the lives of the amazing people we’re meeting this week.  Thank you for your continued prayers.  God bless.

Monday

Things are still going well here in Memphis.  Elijah had a better day (less crying)- Praise God!!  We had dinner with the staff and trustees.  I especially enjoyed visiting with Tom Elliff over dinner- what an experience!  Thanks for your continued prayers.  God bless.
