This weekend Jenny, the boys and I had the wonderful privilege of visiting with Manolo and Nelsi this weekend. Manolo and Nelsi are our good friends from Chiquian. From bull fights to killing and eating guinea pigs to Nelsi’s river baptism, we have shared much together. This weekend, they came and stayed Saturday night with us and we went to “Iglesia Vida Nueva” together. It was a wonderful time!
Though our time was rich, it was also a bit sad to see them. Recently they have come to Lima to attend school- each of them is in a specific program. However, in order to live, they have to work full time as well. They live with some family members that had relocated to Lima some years ago.
Seeing them, and the weariness in there eyes, reminded me again of the desperate situation that so many Peruvians find themselves in. They come to Lima and life is hard- goods cost more, crime is more common, and everyone seems to only be looking out for themselves. With less than 5 percent of Lima believers, it is also easy to be isolated for fellow Christians.
Please pray for our friends, Manolo and Nelsi. Pray for them to do well and school and to earn enough money to live. More than that, pray that they will soon become involved in a faith family and that church will help them to remain focused on Christ and his desires for them.

Please tell Nelsi and Manolo that I send my love and prayers to them. They are such a precious couple, and I am so glad that they are closer to you and Jenny who are their spiritual touchstones. I will pray for success in their education and, more importantly, for a connection with a faith family.
I, too, send my prayers and love to them. I do think of them often and I do pray that they will remain true to God. I am so glad that you all visited with them. As I told you last night, I wish them could come to the US for a visit.
