Welcome to Passion and Obedience, the blog of John McLamb. My wife, Jenny, and I have three sons, Caleb Samuel, Luke Elliot and Elijah Jackson. I’m the former Pastor and current member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Salemburg, NC. In March 2007, my family and I were appointed as International Mission Board missionaries. We are members of the REAPSouth team and live in Lima, Peru. We are are beginning a work amongst the indigenous in Lima who have moved there from the surrounding provinces.

John,
enjoyed your reasons and experience from non-denomy to SBC. I’ve gone the other way though I could exist in the SBC with problem of conscience. I hope you are well. We are having a special Wed night of prayer focusing upon the gospel going into ‘new’ places. Any requests for your work?
Will
Will,
Thanks for stopping by. You come to my mind often. I am especially grateful for remembering us, and the Quechua, in your prayer meeting. Check your inbox for more specifics about how you can best pray for us.
God bless,
John

Dear John & Jenny,
I was excited to see your article in the Biblical Recorder. I always knew you were destined for important work for the Lord. It was great seeing you (John) at Myrtle Beach a year or so ago. Sorry I missed seeing you Jenny, you had stepped away – shopping! You are a very special couple. Things are going good at Flat Springs. We have a very good pastor – very good leader – in influencing and directing our members in different directions. They respect him and listen to his guidance. We are still moving very slowly though, but in a good direction. We do have a Youth Minister right now. His name is Corey Miller. He is working hard. Organization is not his strong point. Please email me, somehow, since you don’t have your computer hooked up, and let me know you received this. John, you were a great friend to me and I miss you both. Keep in touch.
Dear John,
I serve in Santa Cruz with Campus Crusade for Christ. If you have any questions I can answer about life here, let me know.
Ron
Hey buddy,
Hey,
I’m excited to hear that things are going really well. John I know that God has His hands on you and your family. You ought to hear Whitney pray for you, Jenny, and the boys. It is so sweet, it is no wonder that Jesus loves the heart of children. God has truly blessed us with your friendship. Keep on for the Lord. I am excited to tell you that God gave a HUGE wake up call this weekend with Heaven’s Gates and Hell’s Flames. I am so thankful that we serve a God knows just how far to let us run. HE IS SO GOOD!!! I can’t wait to see what HE is going to do with us. We will have to talk. WE LOVE YOU GUYS WITH ALL OF OUR HEART. Will talk to you later, we are praying for you everyday.
Jason
Hello McLamb family,
I am so excited about the direction God is leading you guys. Please know our church, as well as Heather and I, are praying for you. I mention you often at the church and would love for you to come and speak. Not sure of your schedule, it looks packed, but would love to hear from you. I will certainly continue to lift you up and pray for smoooth transitions. Being a “family man” myself I know it is tough. Hello John and Jenny,
glad to you are all doing well and adjusting…we returned from Chosica, Peru the first of May after 10 days on a mission trip with Ginger and Steve Stoltzfuss who are
missionaries from here and she is a member of Macedonia.
don’t know if you remember her and her late husband, Kenny Gammon or not, John. Lovely lady…
Thought you may want to get up with her at some time.
She was excited when I told her about you.
They have an apartment in Lima.
Take care and know that we are praying for you!

Hey John and Jenny! Today I am catching up on five thousand e-mails and just got a chance to check out your blog. We love getting the e-mail updates from you and please know that you have been and will remain in our prayers. I am thrilled that you and Jenny have remained faithful to what God has called you to do. I know by your e-mails that is has not been the easiest of transitions since you left Salemburg — especially with three little boys. Scott and both are excited that we can catch a glimpse of you in “action” and look forward to keeping in touch. It does seem like you are a part of our family because there are few days that go by that a thought doesn’t pop in our head about some long ago, seemingly forgotten piece of trivia with you involved! Those memories bring many smiles to our faces. Obviously — you, Jenny, and the boys are never far from our thoughts. You both are special to us! I look forward to more news from you with great anticipation! It is not surprising that God has called you both to this ministry. For many reasons — of which I will share my thoughts about in a later post!
Love in Christ,
Helen (and Scott)
Hello -
I “found” your blog through a link on Jena Tager’s blog. I’ve known Jena’s parents for several years through a homeschool group and her brother Cory and my son are very good friends. I was wondering if it would be OK if I posted your blog on mine one week – I try to do a “Missionary Monday” blog each week and some of the ladies from our prayer group at my church (Wake Crossroads in Raleigh) pray for the person/people that I post about throughout that week.
Thank you -
-Derwin & Faye Creech
Derwin and Faye,
Thanks for praying for missionaries. You definitely have permission to link to my blog one Monday! Check your inbox too.
John I wanted to mail you all a picture of the children! I can’t find a mailing address. Can you send it to me? Thanks!
We love you all! Happy New Year!
Jenny
John,
This is jason royston, associate pastor of East Rogersville Baptist. How are you? We are just currently assessing some of the needs that missionaries have that we know and wanted to know what we might be able to do for you. Also I’d like to see your monthly newsletter. There will be some of us in San Jose this summer for a missions project, maybe we can meet up. Talk to you later.

John,
I appreciate your blogs as our family continues to move through the IMB process. It’s encouraging and challenging to read another family’s successes and trials through language study. We’re praying God will allow us to enjoy and endure in the coming year those same experiences as your family has had! God bless you as you endure just one more semester of language study.
Michael Hodge and Family
Mr. McLamb,
I am from East Rogersville Baptist in TN. A team from our church, 6 college-aged students, will be serving in San Jose starting tomorrow! We would love the opportunity to meet up with you and your family if time allows. We are going through an organization called SCORE International. If you would like, you can email Jason Royston at jason@erbc.org with your contact information. He will then contact me. We will especially be remembering you and your family as we are in Costa Rica.
